This year Devon and I decided to host Thanksgiving at our house. It’s the first time I’ve ever hosted Thanksgiving dinner for anyone, normally we all go to my mom’s. So after tons of dish shopping, decorating, etc we were almost ready. Devon’s sister found a 26lb turkey for me which turned out to be bigger than I realized. I made my family’s super cheesecake Wednesday night and fired up the turkey Thursday morning. I figured it would take about 5 and a half hours to cook. My dad drove over from Eastern Washington Wednesday so he was already here. Devon’s sister made a couple pies, a salad and some other goodies, my mom brought over two types of stuffing and my brother handled the bread rolls.
The turkey finished up faster than expected (about 3.5 hours) and we had to wait for a few of the other items to finish. The Turkey turned out to be quite good, not overcooked at all and very moist. We had too much food even for 11 people. After dinner my Brother and nephew played Super Mario Galaxy for a while, then people moseyed on home and we cleaned up the remaining food. All in all a very good first Thanksgiving for us. Looking forward to making a tradition out of it.
