About Me

Posted on by 2 comments

This website is the main portal to all of my content. Here you will find links to my other web sites and sites of affiliated companies and friends, my resume, information about my hobbies, and some how-to’s. The site is slowly evolving as I have time to add content.

About Me

I live in the Seattle Area. I am an 20 year Information Technology veteran with experience in a broad spectrum of technologies and industries. I spend most of my time consulting with my clients, working on boat-related projects, and adventuring with my family.

Current Passions

I am currently in the midst of a long term cruise aboard our 45ft sailboat. Information and updates on this project can be followed at AndersonsAbroad.

I am the Principle Consultant for Skepsis Technologies, LLC, where I help customers pivot their business processes and systems entirely to the cloud, from web and social presence to business applications and bookkeeping/payroll.  I also consult with medium and large enterprise customers on more complex IT infrastructure projects for customers that need that.

In my spare time operate the Marine Electronics Advisor Service for boat owners who need planning and architectural design and advice for DIY installations of marine electronics systems and networks.  Contact Me if you need help deciphering installation guides, network terms, adapters, and any of the other confusion that is rampant in marine electronics.

Previous Work

Starting in 2010 and up through the end of 2016 I was a Pre-Sales Systems Engineer for EMC Corporation (now Dell EMC, the Enterprise division of Dell Technologies), focusing on enterprise storage, cloud solutions, software defined datacenters, infrastructure automation, and management software solutions for large enterprise customers.

I was also the founder and President of a non-profit children’s charity called Charity Through Youthful Living. The charity was based in Washington state and our primary goal was to organize fundraising events to generate revenue and then donate in the form of cash or charitable programs. Operating from 2004 to 2014, we’ve ceased charity operations due to the lack of time to give it the proper focus and donated the remainder of our cash to a local non-profit focused on helping disadvantaged kids get time out on the water, learning to sail small boats.

  1. Im not sure what happend to the old format of this site, but we sure wish there was a way to get it back.

3 years ago I ran across this link “richardanderson.net/TechSavvy/CAL_BOATS.html”…. and i bookmarked it. now when I click on it, it automatically switches the web address and takes me to a different page that is not nearly as easy to find what we came to the site for…

since I have found the site, I have passed the link on to many others, but for sometime now I have had people say it doesnt have what i said it did when I told them about it…. so today I was scrolling and clicked on the link, and found it did the switcheroo to me… and people are right, the site doesnt offer what it once did and if it cant be accessed, then whats the point of directing people to the site… Disappointed.

    • What are you looking for that you can’t find? I spent a lot of time trying to make sure that every document that was on the old page was available on the new one.. Maybe I can make it easier to find, just let me know what you are looking for… Sorry for any inconvenience..
